Overview

Both South Korea and Algeria will be in search of their first win this World Cup after both blew second-half leads in their first game.

Doubted by many to begin the tournament, and predicted to finish bottom of the group, it was a very impressive showing by an Algerian squad that showed they're deserving of their top-25 world ranking.

South Korea on the other hand are in the midst of a terrible goal-scoring drought having scored just twice in the last 7 games combined. A slight favourite in this game, they will be in tough against the quick and versatile Algerian attackers.

Algeria is expected to field a very similar lineup to the one that nearly beat Belgium. Very dangerous on the counter-attack, Algeria will look to take advantage of the frequent turnovers South Korea can cough up.

Korea should have a bit more success offensively in this match then they did against Russia but have to be careful not to extend themselves too far up field against the speed and quick-strike ability of Algeria.

Personnel

In the Korean Third: The speed of an Algerian front four against a team that has surrendered at least 2 goals a game in more then 50% of their 2014 matches. Advantage: Algeria.

In the Midfield: Korea will look to control possession for the most part in this game and work their way through the midfield efficiently. Korea turned the ball over frequently against Russia though and this is a team poised to counter their attacks as quickly as possible. If Korea cut down the turnovers they'll successful, otherwise they'll lose the game in this area of the pitch. Advantage: Even

In the Algerian Third: 2 goals for in 7 games. Advantage: Algeria.

Goalkeeping: Jung with the experience advantage bu M'Bolhi passed the eye test in their first match more so then Jung. Advantage: Even.

South Korea will win if:

Need much better individual play from Son Heung-Min and whatever striker Korea throws out in this game. Park Chu-Young was non-existent against Russia and Son was entirely wasteful on his chances despite some quality runs through the midfield. This is an offence that relies heavily on those 2 and their performance last game was completely inadequate.

Algeria will win if:

Play defensively sound as they did against Belgium. Korea don't have the strikers and goal-scoring capability to make Algeria pay on the back end. Sit back, protect their area and wait for Korea to extend themselves too far and turn the ball over. Use their wingers to stretch the field vertically as fast as possible and take advantage of numbers against Korea on the fast break.

Prediction

South Korea's goal-scoring woes will continue in this game. Algeria with the opportunity to punish Korea on the counter-attack and will find the back of the goal for the second straight game.

Algeria 1-0 South Korea
