Luis Suarez Suspended

FIFA ruled today that Uruguay forward Luis Suarez did indeed bite Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini in the Uruguay-Italy match Tuesday. This was Suarez's third biting offence in his career.

Luis Suarez has been suspended for 9 Uruguay matches which effectively ends his World Cup, although if Uruguay play a busy friendly schedule, they may have him back for next year's Copa America.

Suarez has also been banned from any football activity for 4 months. This does include all Liverpool activities or even attending a game. In addition to that, Suarez has been fined 100,000 Swiss francs.

Uruguay, Suarez and maybe Liverpool may all appeal this decision but the bite was clear and for a 3rd offence, this may have actually been the lenient FIFA sentence.

Uruguay play Colombia in the Round of 16 on Saturday and will be in tough to try and advance further in the tournament without their top striker.
